Suwon Fortress

Last Saturday I went to a city about 45 minutes away from Bundang called Suwon with my friend Jennifer. We went to visit the Hwaseong Fortress. It was a beautiful, warm day so we walked around most of the fortress. We also climbed a mountain and saw a gold Buddha statue on top. The view from the top of the mountain was pretty, but of course there was smog. At the bottom of the mountain was a Korean Folk Village. We walked around and I bought two handmade paper fans. It was cool because we saw the woman and child making them.

The weather is warm and summer is here. I can't believe it is the middle of June! I am looking forward to my summer vacation to Japan and having my family visit. In just about five weeks they will be here. They are in for a culture shock. I am excited to show them my school and neighborhood where I live.

Everything is going well at work. We have a field trip next week to the fire station with the kinders. I will be sure to post pictures from that. In August we have our field trip to the local pool. That should be lots of fun and I am sure a little crazy!

I have about 4 months left on my contract here. Where has the time gone? It seems like I am still the new teacher. A couple of teachers will be leaving this summer so I will be one of the more experienced ones here...scary! Right now my plan is to go back to St. Louis the end of October and hopefully find a job there. Who knows, we will see what happens.

Hope all is well back home and here are some pictures from last weekend.
