Happy Children's Day! I am off work today (May 5th) for Children's Day in Korea. They sure do love their kids here. Today is a day to honor kids. Parents will give their children presents and schools, etc. are closed. I am enjoying the day off because things are have been very busy lately. May is a very full month.
This weekend I am going on a tour of the DMZ, which is the border between South and North Korea. It should be interesting to see. I am also doing a 5k run on Sunday morning with four other teachers from work. It is at the World Cup Stadium in Seoul. In two more weeks I have a Friday off for Buddha's Birthday. That weekend I am going to Busan, the second largest city in Korea. It is in the south and right on the ocean. I am going with two girls from work. It should be fun and I hope we have nice, warm weather.
I also had a true Korean cultural experience a few weeks ago...I ate dog! Yes, I know it sounds crazy, but I did it. The flavor was not bad it was just the texture...very chewy! I am glad I tried it because it is a cultural thing here. But, I do not think I will be eating it again. It is not served at every restaurant, however there is a place right by my apartment that I went to with a few other teachers.
Here are some recent pictures from the dog eating experience, the War Memorial of Korea, a riverboat cruise on the Han River in Seoul, and the Seoul Tower which sits on top of a mountain right in the middle of Seoul.
